Workforce

Labor Availability

Richardson has a well-educated and diverse labor supply.

  • More than 26% of our area labor pool has 1-2 years of college education.
  • More than 54% of our area labor pool (25+) has an undergraduate or advanced degree.

Convenient Access for Commuting Workers

Due to our strategic location (north of Dallas along major freeways) and superb transportation infrastructure (four DART light-rail stations and city-wide bus service), about 80,000 of the 130,000 daytime workers (more than 60%) come from outside our city limits.

Workforce Development

In an ongoing effort to strengthen the local economy by offering an array of workforce training options to businesses, Dallas College - Richland Campus and Collin College provide Skills Development Grants to area companies. These grants, offered through the Texas Workforce Commission, have totaled many millions of dollars, and have provided specialized training to thousands of employees.
