Retail

Richardson has seen extensive revitalization of its retail sector and is committed to continued, intentional reinvestment.

More than half of our existing shopping centers have been remodeled or redeveloped and new centers have been built, including numerous transit-oriented developments with both residential and retail components.

This includes The CORE District, comprised of the Downtown, Heights, Interurban, Lockwood, and Chinatown areas. The CORE District is undergoing major changes with projects ranging from a new public safety campus, public art projects, roadway and pedestrian improvements along Main Street and Greenville Avenue, and creative adaptive reuse projects in Lockwood. As growth and transformation occurs, this area continues to serve as the eclectic heart of town, with independently owned and operated businesses and services.

Additional details about our ongoing economic development efforts can be accessed here.
