Downtown CORE District

Richardson CORE map

The City of Richardson is widely recognized for its commitment to excellence, its rich history and its bright future, all of which make Richardson a smart choice for residents and businesses.

In 2009, the Richardson City Council adopted a new Comprehensive Plan, which identified the Main Street area as one of the six “Enhancement/Redevelopment” zones to address the challenges many first-tier suburbs were facing due to aging development and infrastructure.

Today, this area is known as The Core and includes Richardson's Downtown, along with Richardson Heights, Interurban, Lockwood, and Chinatown areas. The Core is undergoing major changes with projects ranging from a new public safety campus and public art projects, roadway and pedestrian improvements along Main Street and Greenville Avenue, and creative adaptive reuse projects in Lockwood. As growth and transformation occurs, this area continues to serve as the eclectic heart of Richardson with independently owned and operated businesses and services.
