REDP Reactivates Its Game-Changing Economic Gardening Program February 11, 2020 Report From 2014 until just last year the Richardson Economic Development Partnership offered a nationally acclaimed business consulting program known as Economic Gardening to emerging growth companies. Eligible companies have 10 to 100 full-time employees, $1 million to $50 million in revenues and a product or service that can be sold outside the DFW region. In essence, the program puts some of the nation’s finest business strategists, marketers, researchers and analysts at the beck and call of a CEO for a period of 2 or 3 months. All this, at a cost of only about 12 hours of the CEO’s time. The post-engagement praise for the program was universal among the 17 Richardson companies that have taken advantage of the service. Post engagements, 3 of the companies hit paydirt as they were acquired by much larger corporate entities and a 4th received an equity capital infusion of $8 million. Economic Gardening works, and there is empirical evidence of that fact.Unfortunately, the program skipped a beat in 2019 when the non-profit National Center for Economic Gardening (www.economicgardening.org) separated from its long-time delivery partner the Lowe Foundation and decided to offer the service directly to statewide and regional economic development organizations throughout the US. REDP is one of the few City EDO’s to offer the program.REDP has just signed a new contract with Chris Gibbons’ National Center for Economic Gardening and is seeking Richardson companies who meet the basic eligibility standards and who are genuinely interested in growing their business.
