Plano Intelligence Launches New iNotify Platform that Powers Award-Winning AI App for Video Monitoring and Identification of Public Safety Threats

RICHARDSON, Texas – December 13, 2018 – iNotify, an artificial intelligence (AI) platform designed to mitigate the risk of mass shootings and other violent public attacks, is moving out of testing phase and into production launch.

iNotify was envisioned and designed by Ashlesha Nesarikar, founder and president of Plano Intelligence Inc, and developed by a team of young computer scientists and students from the University of Texas at Dallas. Advised by the university faculty and technology professionals in the community, the team is driven to create a strong AI base in the Dallas area.

Beginning with a smartphone app, the iNotify developers first showcased their technology at a US Ignite Smart Gigabit Communities competition. Sponsored in part by Tech Titans and held in Richardson, Texas, the competition offered a $10,000 grant and access to high-end cloud-based server infrastructure. The iNotify team earned top honors and used the award to address a pressing public safety challenge – how to identify guns in prohibited areas in time to help individuals escape a potential shooting event.

The iNotify technology works by monitoring live security footage and generating notification alerts based on cognitive intelligence.

“The ability to identify a potential threat and use that information to improve emergency response or avert a crisis altogether is something that public and private institutions everywhere would like to claim,” said Nesarikar. “With iNotify, we’re giving people a technology tool to help with that effort; an automated, intelligent monitoring and alert system that’s scalable and extensible for a variety of environments.”

The iNotify platform is a general purpose real-time AI platform that may be adapted to a variety of customer needs beyond security and personal safety. Other AI modules for security, privacy, collaboration, audio detection, infrared tracking, or customers’ own proprietary modules may be added to the platform. Nesarikar and her team are aware of general risk-averseness surrounding AI systems, and built the iNotify platform to address it.

“The need for monitoring, observing, and mitigating known and unknown abhorrent system behaviors in all AI systems, including false positives, cannot be overstated, said advisor to the iNotify team, Abhijit Nesarikar, Ph.D. “The iNotify architecture represents our approach for humans and AI to coexist and collaborate as it provides visibility into the decision-making process of the system in real time and compensates for the typically black-box nature of AI.”

iNotify may be licensed to host as a dedicated solution, or it may be subscribed to as a PaaS (platform as a service). Plano Intelligence is actively seeking customers and partners including school administrators, governments, and private enterprises. Interested individuals should contact:
