Hunt Companies gifts city of Richardson swath of land

November 9, 2018

By Staff Reporter | Dallas Business Journal

Hunt Companies Inc. has donated a swath of land and $200,000 to the city of Richardson to create an art park near the Telecom Corridor.

According to a release, the park will sit alongside The Mallory, a new high-rise building from Hunt, and will serve as the "gateway to the city of Richardson."

A sculpture from Ed Carpenter, which celebrates the history of technology in the area, has been installed at Greenville Avenue and Alma Road near U.S. Highway 75. The 70-foot structure is called "Micro Macro Mojo."

Hunt (NYSE: HCFT) deeded the land back to the city along with the financial donation.

"This new site will not only serve as a beautiful landscape for visitors and residents to enjoy but will allow local artist, Ed Carpenter, to demonstrate his highly qualified skills," said Terence Johnson, development manager at Hunt, in the release.

The Mallory was developed by Hunt along with its construction affiliate Moss, and is managed by another of its affiliates, Pinnacle.

Hunt Companies Inc. is based in El Paso. The private, family-owned company consists of several businesses in the real estate and infrastructure markets.
