Richardson has many parks and recreation opportunities to enjoy

  • 39 parks covering 864.63 acres City Parks Map
  • 87.49 miles of walkways, hike and recreational bike trails City Trail Map
  • Bill Keffler Baseball Complex at Breckinridge Park featuring 4 full-sized fields accommodating T-ball through high school
  • Huffhines Athletic Complex is a new 25,000 square foot facility situated at the southwest corner of Huffhines Park.
  • Heights Recreation Center features full regulation-sized basketball court in the gymnasium, a dedicated game room, larger fitness and cardio areas with new equipment, updated locker rooms, larger classroom space, a preschool room, an aerobics. studio, and WIFI Internet access. 
  • Heights Family Aquatic Center features a leisure pool with a current channel, vortex and splash features in the beach front entry as well as a tot pool, slides, and a lap pool with a basketball hoop!
  • Bush Central BARKway, Richardson's new dog park, is a 2.6-acres site under the Bush Turnpike west of Central Expressway
  • Richardson Gymnastics Center a 16,000-SF that offers Level 2 through Level 10 gymnastic classes, and has its own competitive team

Golf and Country Clubs
 
Sherrill Park Golf Course
  • Ranked among Texas' Top 100 golf courses
  • Ranked 4th in Texas for low to mid-priced courses
  • Features two 18-hole courses and operates year-round
  • Elegant residential homes and city parks surround the course

Canyon Creek Country Club

  • CCCC is a private country club with an 18-hole golf course designed by Press Maxwell
  • 3 swimming pools, 14 outdoor tennis courts, 4 indoor tennis courts
  • Newly renovated clubhouse for member events and corporate functions
  • Club attracts members from all over North Dallas area
  • Located 1 mile west of Central Expressway and Telecom Corridor ® area

Corporate Challenge
Corporate Challenge is a 10 Week - Olympic style competition run by the city's Parks & Recreation Department.
  • The Corporate Challenge is open to Richardson companies as well as companies in the metroplex.
  • A full challenge consists of 54 companies; sizes of companies vary from 1000+ employees to 100 employees.
  • Consists of 24 athletic and non-athletic events held August - October. Competition events range from Texas Hold 'Em, Cornhole, Volleyball to Basketball, there is something for everyone. 
  • Events are held during the week after normal business hours and on the weekends
  • Participating companies raise funds for the Special Olympics Texas throughout the games. The challenge has raised over $3 Million Dollars for Special Olympics Texas since the beginning. 
  • The Corporate Challenge is an official statewide sponsor of Special Olympics Texas. 

Cycling Events

There are several events supported and organized by Richardson Bike Mart, a local Richardson business whose owner, Jim Hoyt, was Lance Armstrong's early mentor in cycling events in the Richardson area. For information on Richardson bike trails, please click here.



City-Sponsored Festivals

Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival 

  • Wildflower! Arts & Musical Festival takes place annually the third weekend in May at Galatyn Urban Park in Richardson, TX. Enjoy over 100+ musicians and bands on one of six stages, WF! Kids activities, Performance Row, WF! Marketplace Vendors, and festival favorite treats during the 3-day event! For additional info, visit wildflowerfestival.com.
Cottonwood Art Festival
  •  Cottonwood Art Festival is a juried semi-annual art show that features work from the nation's top visual artist and takes place on the first full weekend in May and October each year. For additional information, visit cottonwoodartfestival.com.

Huffhines Art Trails

  • Every year during the 3rd weekend of October, the paved trails of Huffhines Park come alive with close to 150 exhibiting artists and craftsmen. Patrons will find a variety of contemporary crafts, traditional crafts, and arts in mediums that range from painting to pottery, glass to woodworks, and jewelry to hand work. Santa's Village
  • Santa's Village is a tiny town of 16 holiday dwellings on the north side of City Hall as well as a holiday tradition for families from Richardson and beyond. Each colorful building offers children a fun activity and even a visit with Santa Claus! Attendees can also enjoy live performances, holiday photo ops, and warm up with a cup of hot chocolate or a snack. The Village is open the first 3 weekend each December.
