Utilities

Richardson’s utility infrastructure has significant electric and fiber capacities.

  • With 418 linear miles of fiber in a 27 square mile city, Richardson has one of the most extensive and advanced fiber networks of any city in America. See map.
  • Three major carrier fiber optic trunk lines (AT&T, Verizon, Sprint) operate through Richardson
  • 7 electrical substations in Richardson provide service to data centers operated by Digital Realty Trust, SunGard, Terremark, Bank of America (2), PepsiCo and Cisco
  • Richardson has “fiber-to-the-curb” in all residential areas

Utilities - Type and Provider(s)

Electricity

Oncor provides delivery. Customers may select their electric power provider from a number of companies found at The Power To Choose. Contact your power provider to arrange service.

Natural Gas

Atmos Energy provides natural gas sales and delivery.

Water/Sewer

City of Richardson – Water and Sewer Rates are applicable for both commercial & residential users. For Solid Waste commercial rates, contact City Water Dept. at 972-744-4404
