Richardson adds more than 20 restaurants during past year

04/12/2012

Richardson has attracted 100 new restaurants over the past four years, and 2011 was no exception. Twenty-two restaurants were added in 2011, and four have already been announced in 2012.  The new additions are a mix of new concepts, national franchises and family-owned restaurants. A few have been rebranded or have new ownership.

Texas is the new name for Dale Wamstad’s venture at The Shire on Bush Turnpike, just east of U.S. 75.  Originally named Four Sisters, Texas offers Delmonico and Flat Iron steaks, Filet Mignon to fresh seafood (check out the Scottish salmon), great ribs, soups, salads and more. Open for dinner only, Texas has six private dining areas for special parties and events that will seat from 10 to 90 (adding the private 2nd level balcony), a large open bar area, and great Texas hospitality, which has always been Dale’s forte.

Thai’s Thumbz Urban Kitchen is also at The Shire, next to Scalini’s Pizza & Pasta.

Kinado Sushi & Bar at Eastside (U.S. 75 at E. Campbell Rd) offers a modern, upscale setting with a chef-designed menu featuring a full selection of authentic favorites like Kobe Beef and Blue Fin Toro. Kinado also offers more contemporary creations, such as the Spicy Rainbow Roll and Chef Tataki. Lunch specials offer a great value, and they have a private dining room with seating for 20.
Hanabi Japanese Bistro at Arapaho and Plano Rd. is a family-owned restaurant receiving good reviews and developing a following for those who live on the East side of Richardson.  The atmosphere is nice with friendly staff and generous portions.
Olive Burger is a new burger and sandwich shop at 491 W. Arapaho next to Golden Chick. Olive Burger serves large burgers, gyros, chicken sandwiches, French fries, onion rings, salads, and more. The restaurant is newly remodeled and seats about 45.
Crescent Moon Cuisine on Spring Valley/Brick Row Drive, next to the Spring Valley DART station, is a newly formed restaurant that brings Northern (Halal/Zabiha) Chinese style foods to the consumer market. Unlike Southern China, Northern China’s staple crop is wheat, and it supplies the Chinese diet in the form of noodles, buns and specialty breads.
