REDP Receives Honorable Mention at Economic Development Conference

Acknowledging the Richardson Economic Development Partnership (REDP) for its innovative entrepreneurship-based program, the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) recognized the Richardson, Texas-based entity with an Honorable Mention at IEDC's Annual Conference, which took place in Atlanta, Georgia, October 19-22. The organization was noticed for this achievement during an awards ceremony on Tuesday, October 21st.

"Economic development efforts have long been a keystone in the quest to bolster the economy and improve quality of life in every locality across the country," said Robin Roberts Krieger, IEDC chair. "As the nation continues to tackle longstanding challenges in the midst of an inhospitable financial climate, these efforts have taken on an even greater significance. With the award, we laud trendsetting organizations like the Richardson Economic Development Partnership for leading the charge."

Competing in the category of Entrepreneurship by organizations serving areas with populations between 50,000 and 200,000, REDP was a clear standout. STARTech Early Ventures was founded in 1997 as a for-profit business incubator/accelerator to focus on developing technology-based start-up and entrepreneurial activity in the Telecom Corridor in Richardson. In 1998, STARTech formed a seed-stage investment fund to complement its methodology for company creation and growth. STARTech has created strong networks of executives, entrepreneurs, co-investors, and other partners, which allow them broad visibility into Texas deal flow.
