August 2009 This issue home | Past issues | Chamber home Richardson Chamber Establishes Charitable Fund for Leadership Richardson Scholarships The Richardson Chamber of Commerce has established a 501c3 donor advised fund at Communities Foundation of Texas to allow companies to make tax-deductible donations to support Leadership Richardson, the Leadership Richardson Scholarship Fund and future Chamber educational or charitable initiatives What is Communities Foundation of Texas? A community foundation, as the name implies, is a public charity created as a vehicle for charitable giving. The defining characteristic of a community foundation is that it represents the donors' charitable interests and adds value through its wealth of community knowledge, along with the leadership of its board of trustees and the services of a professional staff. Communities Foundation of Texas is now one of the nation's largest community foundations, in terms of total assets, gifts received and grants awarded.
