Chamber Looks Back on a Successful Year

As we look back on 2008, the Richardson Chamber of Commerce hosted the 51st Annual Banquet featuring Martin G. Foster, the 21st Annual Golf Classic, the sold-out Richardson Business Trade Show, the first ever North Texas Women’s Conference with other neighboring chambers, the first Heath and Wellness Fair, and the Business and Industry Awards Luncheon.  Throughout the year, the Women in Leadership, Signature Luncheon, Richardson Young Professionals, Small Business Round Table, Early Net, PM Connections, Growth and Mobility, Broker/Developer and Public Affairs groups found themselves busy with programs featuring Green Technology, Saluting our First Responders, the Trinity River Project, Transportation, Women in Texas Politics and Business, the One Page Business Plan, and Killer Legal Mistakes.  Chamber programs throughout the year featured speakers such as Florence Shapiro, Judy Bragg, former Lt. Governor Bill Ratliff, J. Stephen Tidwell, Dr. Dennis Kratz, Mayor Tom Leppert with Mayor Steve Mitchell, Jeff Fegan, June Jones, Stan Richards, and Nancy Barry. United Automobile Insurance Company Leases 30,000 Square Feet in Richardson for Texas Office

United Automobile Insurance Company, one of the largest privately held property and casualty insurance companies in the United States, today announced its lease of a 30,000-square-foot facility in Richardson, Texas.  The new office, at 3101 E. President George Bush Turnpike, has 185 employees and is located in the same building as Fujitsu and AMPAD.

“We needed a newer facility with ample parking and convenient access to the DART Light Rail system, so it only made sense to search for properties in a pro-business community like Richardson,” said John Haenel, vice president for United Auto – Texas.  “The City of Richardson and the Richardson Economic Development Partnership were instrumental in helping us find a top-notch facility for our employees, most of whom live in the Richardson area or nearby communities.  The city welcomed us with open arms, and we are glad to be a part of this dynamic community.”
