November 2008 This issue home | Past issues | Chamber home New 2008 Business & Industry Awards For almost a quarter century, the Richardson Chamber of Commerce has held an annual event in appreciation of our business community. It was usually a casual, come-as-you-are barbeque luncheon held at the Civic Center. About five years ago, the chamber decided to make it more of a formal business event and moved it to one of the local hotels complete with guest speakers. And so it has been since 2004. Do you have a special event coming up that you’d like to promote to other Chamber businesses? Would you like to utilize over 7,000 page views a month? Then the RCC Partner Events Page is for you! The Partner Events Page is a web page on the RCC website designed specifically to highlight organizations and their activities that take place in our community every year. Charitable functions, educational events, community wide events and selected special events are the types of activities that could be promoted on the Partner Event Page. FULL STORYInspiration Found at Regional Women’s Leadership Conference Over 300 women - and a few men! - came out to the Plano Centre to attend the North Texas Women's Conference co-hosted by the Richardson, Plano, McKinney, and Garland Chambers of Commerce. The event was a huge success as opening speaker Suzie Humphreys jolted us up with her amusing portrayal of the bitter sweet ups and downs in life. Laughing into the break we found some refreshments while strolling through the few booths in the isles as we prepared to learn from some of our most successful local women leaders. Executives from Cisco, Southwest Airlines, Match.com, and Woman that Soar shared with us how to learn from their experiences - what to do, what not to do, and how to become the next successful woman executive. We all took notes as they shared their secrets with high heels in the boardroom. |
