October 2008 This issue home | Past issues | Chamber home Shopping Center of the Month – Breckinridge Corners I and II
Breckinridge Corners Phase I and II are located at the intersection of Renner Road and North Star in far northeast Richardson, Developer Doug Huey began Phase I in 2002 on the northeast corner with anchor store, Walgreen’s and Primrose School of Breckinridge Park, a day care center. By the summer of 2003, tenants had leased up all of Phase I and today it is still 100% leased. The North Star building tenants include: Breckinridge Park Animal Hospital, where owners Scott Erickson, DVM and his wife Erica Erickson, DVM and their staff provides loving medical care for your pets, specializing in dogs and cats, and some boarding is available. Phase II of Breckinridge Corners began with Cool Water Auto Spa on the west end and later Doug built a 20,000 SF retail strip along Renner Road west of North Star. Tenants in that first building include HK Cleaners with a convenient drive-thru, Edward Jones Office, Star Cuts Family Hair Care, Highland Spa offering facials, massages and nail care services, Emergency Medical office, 2 dental offices: Children’s DentalCare and North Star Dental with Jeffrey Moore, DDS. Restaurants include JK China Buffet and Schiano’s Pizza and Pasta restaurant. In 2007, Starbucks built a building with a drive through. Another 14,000 SF building was completed later that year and Snap Fitness, a new franchise in the fitness business opened in December of 2007. Snap Fitness is open 24/7 and provides their clients with an individual access pass so that customers can work out any time, day or night. In the summer of 2008, Nico’s Tex-Mex Cantina opened with patio dining and a special champagne Sunday brunch. Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches, one of the hottest new restaurant franchises in the US, opened October 1. A pediatric medical practice and the new Chase Bank round out the tenants on the northwest corner. Huey was able to coordinate the architecture of both Phase I and Phase II of Breckinridge Corners, giving the entire intersection a unified and modern look. What was just a vision only 6 years ago, is now reality with medical and neighbor services and 5 restaurants. In the coming months, there could be some activity on the southwest corner, bringing more services and retail to the residents of northeast Richardson.
