Texas’ future economic health is absolutely dependent on providing an inclusive, emerging workforce that is well educated, technologically savvy and work ready. As Texas’ Hispanic populations soars, it is now more important than ever to engage this growing demographic and tap into the skilled workforce that they represent. Hispanic students now make up more than 42 percent of all students enrolled in Texas public schools this semester and 22 percent of Texas’ Hispanic public school populations are new to the American education system and the English language. Hispanic parents are just as hungry as any other parent when it comes to wanting what’s best for their children, including access to a college education. There is a role to play for each of us to reach this ever important market. Now is the time to commit; are you ready to be engaged? The Richardson and North Dallas Chambers of Commerce are partnering with the Richardson Independent School District (RISD) to provide the first district-wide Hispanic Parents College Information Night on October 28, 2008.
