August 2008 This issue home | Past issues | Chamber home Looking Back at 50 Years of New Teachers
Remember that one teacher from your childhood? That one that was always your favorite? The one that was tough, but fair? The one that inspired you to be your best and never let you settle for anything less? Everyone has a special teacher from their past and what better way to honor such a noble profession than by attending and supporting the 50th annual Richardson Chamber of Commerce New Teachers Luncheon. A special event honoring the 50th year of new teachers will look back on the past half century in Richardson. This memorable event will be held on Thursday, August 14 at the Renaissance Hotel in Richardson to welcome RISD’s newest teachers. Dr. Dennis Kratz, Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities at UTD, is the keynote speaker. His presentation “The Rose and the Machine” is designed to highlight some of the changes in the teaching profession and provide a message of hope and encouragement to our newest teachers. Every new teacher will receive a tote bag full of goodies and have the chance to win a door prize. Join Doctorate Degree Sponsor, Texans Credit Union as a sponsor of this 50th Annual New Teachers Luncheon. Your company may also support the luncheon by donating a door prize or items for the teacher tote bags. Please contact Ryan Abrey for sponsorship information or if you have any questions about this special event. Together, we can show teachers how much they have meant to us all and give support to the new teachers who will shape the minds of our next generation.
