August 2008 This issue home | Past issues | Chamber home Chamber Seeks Nominations for the New Business & Industry Awards Event For 25 years the annual Richardson Chamber Business and Industry Appreciation Luncheon has been a major Chamber event in the fall. Formerly held as a barbecue lunch with the Richardson Rotary Clubs at the Civic Center, the event was changed to a more formal luncheon at a local hotel in 2003. In order to recognize the many aspects of business activity in Richardson, the Chamber’s Signature Luncheon Committee and the three Richardson Rotary Club presidents held a series of meetings to discuss revamping the event. Together they have selected a new name and created 6 new awards for local businesses and organizations. FULL STORY
Chamber will Salute First Responders at 9/11 Luncheon First Responders – the firefighters and police officers who are the first to be on the scene when tragedy strikes – will be honored for their service during a special Signature Luncheon commemorating the lives lost in the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers in New York City and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Steve Tidwell, the Deputy Executive Director of the FBI in Washington, D.C. will keynote this special event luncheon on September 11, the 7th anniversary of the attacks, at the First United Methodist Church Richardson. He will be joined by Bob Casey of the Dallas FBI Office, Richardson Police Chief Larry Zacharias, and Richardson Fire Chief Alan Palomba. The colors will be presented by the combined Police and Firefighters Color Guard and Bagpipe Corps.
