July 2008 This issue home | Past issues | Chamber home Richardson Business Trade Show Reaches New Heights The Richardson Chamber of Commerce presented the Richardson Business Trade Show on May 29th and according to all those who attended, it was a smashing success. The show featured more than 150 exhibiting companies of all sizes and description. It was kicked off by Mayor, Steve Mitchell, Dave Anderson of Reliable Chevrolet, Chairman of the Board of the Richardson Chamber, and the CEO and President of the chamber, Bill Sproull. The gentlemen pointed out that the trade show booths were completely sold out. They touted the success of the chamber’s new Shop Local, Shop Smart campaign, designed to make local residents more aware of the services available right here in their backyard. The leaders introduced and thanked the major sponsors – Title Sponsor, Opportunity Bank, Associate Sponsors, Time Warner Cable and the City of Richardson and the myriad of food and beverage sponsors who provided wonderful tastings throughout the day.
This year’s trade show followed new marketing and event planning by the chamber staff and Ambassadors. A direct effort was made to attract citizens of Richardson to attend through television ads on Time Warner cable, print ads in Richardson Living Magazine and The Dallas Morning News and printed signs that were posted in locations around the city. An estimated 600-plus people attended the event. The event was open from noon to 7:00pm to accommodate any schedule. Also new this year were breakout sessions with local businesses providing information to the public on topics from legal matters to air conditioning issues. “It could not have happened without the input and hard work of the Ambassadors,” said Member Services Director, Suzanne Potter. “They really dedicated themselves to making this the best trade show ever”.
