May 2008 This issue home | Past issues | Chamber home Young Professionals Kick Off Mentoring Program The Richardson Young Professionals, or RYP, had their kick off event at the Hyatt Regency North Dallas-Richardson Hotel last Thursday, April 24th. The event was a great success as mentors and mentees alike flocked to learn the benefits of the new program. The mentoring program will provide a forum for young professionals in the Richardson community to connect with colleagues for personal and professional development. Networking is inherent and needed in order for any mentoring program to be mutually beneficial and successful, however, the focus of the mentoring program is self-development. The mentoring program is not a networking form, but it does encourage networking and gives room for such. The mentoring prgram is not intended to be used for job recruiting or job hunting. "Mentees" are members of the Richardson Young Professionals seeking mentorship. The RYP committee will match up the mentees with appropriate mentors after the application deadline on April 30th. Mentees must be members of the RYP. Mentors and mentees are asked to attend orientation, commit to six months of mentorship, meet once a month, attend chamber events, and attend an RYP workshop.
