April 2008 This issue home | Past issues | Chamber home Chamber Welcomes New Board Members The Chamber would like to welcome Bruce Mead, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, to the board of directors and John Carmichael, Nortel, to the advisory board. Bruce E. Mead Bruce Mead brings many years of experience to his position as vice president of national and government accounts. In his position, Mr. Mead is responsible for new business growth for national accounts, national account management, and government account management. Mr. Mead joined BCBSTX in August of 2006 after being with UnitedHealth Group for 16 years. Prior to his current position, Mr. Mead was the sales vice president for Uniprise, UnitedHealth’s national account company for the previous seven years. In this role, he was responsible for new business development in a seven-state area and served on numerous marketing and leadership committees and work groups. Mr. Mead belongs to the Dallas Fort Worth Business Group on Health and the South West Benefits Association. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri in business administration in 1990 and a Master’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis in business administration in 1995. John Carmichael As Real Estate Operation Prime for the US Midwest Region, John oversees all areas of Real Estate Operation including Facility Management, Workplace Planning and Design, Transactions, and Project Management. His responsibilities include managing two million square feet of office, lab, and research/design space. John’s experience with Nortel encompasses more than 15 years in the Real Estate Organization. John in a native of Richardson, Texas, graduating from LV Berkner High School. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Sam Houston State University, where he was a four year baseball letterman. John is a Leadership Richardson Class XXIII member and is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Southwest Chapter of CoreNet Global. John and his wife, Jana, have two kids, Kaylin and Cody. He is active coaching his kids in various sports and is an active member of his church.
