Chip and Dip Week a Delicious Success!
2725 - 648 - 268 - 59 - 44

March 23, 2008 was National Chip and Dip Day and the Richardson Chamber of Commerce’s Education Committee created a delicious tie in to show the Chamber’s appreciation for RISD teachers.  The week of March 24, approximately 648 bags of chips and 268 dips were delivered to 59 schools (55 Richardson ISD schools and 4 Plano ISD schools in Richardson) by 45 different Chamber members during Chip and Dip Week!

U.S. Congressmen Pete Sessions and Richardson's Mayor Steve Mitchell pose with the teacher's before snacking on chips and dip.

U.S. Congressmen Pete Sessions and Richardson Mayor Steve Mitchell enjoyed chips and dip with the teachers at both Dover Elementary and RISD Academy. Mitchell says "Teachers are a critical component in keeping our neighborhood schools strong.  On a daily basis, they shape the next generation of leaders in our community.  I greatly appreciate their vital contribution to our future.   It is a real honor to take part in the National Chip and Dip day in celebrating their important role."

Teacher appreciation cards from the Chamber of Commerce were delivered to 2,725 teachers in 59 schools during that 5 day period!  The card was designed by Julian Williams, an 8th grade student at Westwood Junior High School.  Dave Anderson, Chamber Chairman, and Bill Sproull, Chamber President, presented Julian with a framed picture of the card.  Jerry Cornelius at Canyon Creek Art and Frame donated the framing and Nortell printed all the cards.  The Chamber would like to thank everyone involved for their efforts and support of this wonderful initiative.

The Chamber Education Committee declared Chip and Dip Week a success! By all reports, visiting the schools was lots of fun. If your company missed out on Chip and Dip Week and wants to adopt a school next year, please contact Ryan Abrey at 972-792-2816.

Hats off to all of these companies and individual who contributed to the success of Chip and Dip Week!
