Chairman's 2007 Year End Wrap-Up

Richard Ramey, regional bank president for LegacyTexas Bank, has served as board chairman for 2007.  Ramey succeeded Paul Voelker, who served as chairman in 2006, at the Chamber’s annual luncheon early in 2007.

2007 successes included:

• In February, the chamber's most successful annual banquet yet featured keynote speaker Rich Templeton, President and Chief Executive Officer of Texas Instruments Incorporated.
• Another Richardson Legislative Day was produced at the state capitol on February 20-21 where we were recognized in both the Senate and House of Representative galleries.
• The Richardson Young Professionals kicked off their first year with a bang on April 26 at McCarty's Tavern.
• In May, Richardson I.S.D. received the prestigious HEB Award.
• MetroPCS decided to move headquarters to Richardson in June.
• On July 9, we announced that Hall Financial Group acquired 62-Acre Site for Class A office park in Richardson.
• The 49th annual new teacher's luncheon was a phenomenal success as speaker Captain Scott O'Grady moved the crowd with his heroic story.
• History was made as we celebrated the 20th annual golf classic this year.
• On October 25, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas broke ground on their new Richardson HQ campus.
• Craig Hall, Chairman of Hall Financial Group, presented the 25th annual Business and Industry luncheon on November 1.
• The stage was set to rebrand the Richardson Business Breakfast to Small Business Round Table for 2008.
• The chamber successfully backed two changes to the city charter.

The Richardson Chamber of Commerce would like to thank Richard Ramey for his leadership as a chairman in the past year. Without the help of volunteers such as Mr. Ramey, the RCC would not be able to share with the Richardson community such successes.
