Richardson’s business leaders and area community officials gathered at Galatyn Park’s Lookout Drive for the official groundbreaking ceremony of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas’ new campus headquarters. Located directly north of the Renaissance Hotel and the Eisemann Center, the 16-acre site will be home to a new 15-story high rise office building adjoined to a second building which will total over 1.1 million square feet. The headquarters will be built by Koll Development and is the largest single corporate headquarters office complex in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex in almost 20 years, receiving the Dallas Business Journal’s “Best Real Estate Deal of the Year in 2006” award. Needed: Volunteers for 2008 As 2007 comes to a close and preparation by the Board of Directors is underway for another Every RCC committee is looking for new members to bring fresh ideas, plan and implement programs, and chart the future course for the Chamber and the community. Chamber committees are the source of a vibrant Chamber of Commerce and are critical to a Chamber’s success. All committee members are required to actively participate in monthly meetings and events when possible and help with the administration of the program. City of Richardson Charter Amendment Election
The Richardson Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors recently voted to support Propositions 1 & 2 on the November 6 Charter Amendment Election. Proposed Amendment as it appears on the ballot: Proposition 1 – Shall Article 3, Section 3.08 of the Home Rule Charter be amended to allow all meetings of the City Council to be held at the City Hall or at such other locations as may be designated by the City Council? Currently, the City Charter permits City Council meetings to be held only at City Hall as prescribed by the City Charter and in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act.
