October 2007 This issue home | Past issues | Chamber home The Collaboration of Education and Business in Developing the Workforce of Tomorrow
The upcoming Signature luncheon featuring Dr. David Simmons, School Superintendent, Richardson ISD and Dr. Doug Otto, School Superintendent, Plano ISD, will be a must see as they discuss how education and business are critical to the future of today's students. The luncheon will be on Thursday, October 11, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Renaissance Hotel Dallas-Richardson, Career centers, co-op programs, and mentors are great starting points for the tie-in between businesses and education, but what else is being done or can be done by the business community to help students prepare for the challenges of the business world? The workforce and business leaders of tomorrow are now preparing their minds for greatness, but how business and education can best develop a community of collaboration to meet those needs is critical to their success. Dr. Simmons and Dr. Otto will answer these questions and others in a compelling discussion that brings the perspectives of both school districts on building partnerships between business and education. The Signature Luncheon Series has developed this program based on the Chamber’s mission statement on education: to develop, attract and retain an educated work force to serve area business and foster these relationships with the educational entities in the community. For those who work for a business, own a business, work for a school district, live in a school district, think about the future of our children, think about their future or are a part of our community in some way, you can't miss this informative discussion on the partnership of business and education. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2007 "Early Bird" price: $35 RCC members, $40 prospective members
