Texas-Israel Chamber of Commerce Opens in Richardson at STARTech

Richardson Chamber Providing Office Space In STARTech Early Ventures Complex

RICHARDSON, Texas – September 25, 2007 – The Texas-Israel Chamber of Commerce, a nonprofit business organization created by the Texas Governor’s office and the Israel-America Chamber of Commerce to promote trade between the Lone Star State and the Middle Eastern nation, today announced plans to open its headquarters in the STARTech Early Ventures complex in Richardson, Texas. 

Selection of the STARTech site, which was provided free-of-charge by the Richardson Chamber of Commerce, situates the organization in the heart of Telecom Corridor® business activity – and amongst a high concentration of technology-related companies.  STARTech is a business incubator for technology-based enterprise in the Southwestern United States, primarily Texas.

Nominations Now Being Accepted for the 2007 Volunteer Awards

Nominations for the 2007 Volunteer Awards are now being accepted. Only members are eligible for nomination. The nomination must state the nominee's qualifications and brief comments from the person submitting the nomination about why the nominee is deserving of this award. Winners will be selected by an anonymous selection committee and announced a chamber event in early 2008.

Nominations will be accepted between October 1 and November 15th. Please send all nominations to Paul Bendel. Nominations must be submitted in writing either by email and regular mail.

The Collaboration of Education and Business in Developing the Workforce of Tomorrow

The upcoming Signature luncheon featuring Dr. David Simmons, School Superintendent, Richardson ISD and Dr. Doug Otto, School Superintendent, Plano ISD, will be a must see as they discuss how education and business are critical to the future of today's students.

Career centers, co-op programs, and mentors are great starting points for the tie-in between businesses and education, but what else is being done or can be done by the business community to help students prepare for the challenges of the business world?   The workforce and business leaders of tomorrow are now preparing their minds for greatness, but how business and education can best develop a community of collaboration to meet those needs is critical to their success.
