Ambassador Explains How the Richardson Chamber has Helped Him

Andrew Hawkins was interviewed about his experience with the Richardson Chamber of Commerce and tells us

RCC:  What benefits do you reap from being a part of the Chamber?

AH:  The Chamber has given our firm tremendous exposure not only in the Richardson business community, but also in the Richardson area in general.  It has been a great marketing tool and networking opportunity for developing new business and relationships for our firm.  The Chamber has also done a great job of keeping us informed of new economic developments and events, and representing our interests as a local business.

RCC:  What benefits do you reap as an ambassador?

AH:  There are so many different benefits to being an Ambassador – whether it’s the marketing and networking opportunities, the validation as part of the Richardson business community that being an Ambassador of the Chamber gives you, the opportunity to be one of the first people in the area to know about new developments in Richardson, the access to key persons that being an Ambassador gives you, and of course, the camaraderie and relationships that develop with the other Ambassadors.

RCC:  Why do you feel it's important for others to join?

AH:  From a selfish perspective, I can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t want to join the Ambassadors Club – there are so many benefits!  But I also think that it is important to be a part of it because they are literally the “ambassadors” of the Chamber to the local business community, and as such, play a critical role in ensuring the continued success of an organization that is vital to the growth and stability of local businesses, and thus the Richardson economy.

RCC:  Please give examples of how being a member of the Chamber has created success for you/your firm.

AH:  Without question, our firm has gotten the vast majority of our clients as a result of our involvement with the Chamber – either Chamber members themselves or referrals from Chamber members.  Our firm opened for business about a year ago, and we’ve already hired our first staff member and associate attorney because of the amount of business we received – I believe as a direct result of our involvement in the Chamber.

RCC:  How long have you been a member?

AH: I joined the Chamber when I started my firm about a year ago.  But I was active in the Chamber when I was with my previous firm, too.

RCC:  What were your goals when you joined and have you met them?

AH:  I wanted to increase our firm’s exposure in the community, gain new clients and develop referral relationships, and take a more active role in the local business community.  We’ve not only met our goals, but exceeded them!

RCC:  Have you seen the financial return on being a member?

AH:  Definitely.  We’ve gotten a return of exponential proportions on our investment of time and money into the Chamber.

RCC:  How does being a member make you feel?

AH:  I’m proud to not only be a member of the Richardson Chamber, but also to serve as an Ambassador of the Chamber to the community.

RCC:  Any other comments, suggestions, or recommendations you have for potential and current members:

AH:  Absolutely: get involved – it will pay huge dividends down the road for you!  And even if you can’t get involved in the Chamber right now, for whatever reason, join the Chamber – it’s a great organization that represents the interests of the entire Richardson business community at every level of government, and the Chamber needs your support.
