Yahoo Announces Plans to Call Richardson Home

Yahoo's newest location in Richardson, TX

Yahoo announced they would be moving their offices out of Deep Ellum deep into the heart of the Telecom Corridor® area in a new 46,000 SF building, shown here.  This move would allow Yahoo to be closer to their key customers as well as allow employees to be closer to their homes allowing for a significantly shorter commute time.

The Yahoo offices were once a part of Broadcast.com, the former company of Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.  This company allowed corporate clients to take advantage of webcasting and allowed merchants and advertisers to incorporate video into their marketing.  Sold to Yahoo, the company looked into expanding their workforce and acquiring additional office space in Deep Ellum.  The tech bust forced Yahoo to rethink their plans in downtown Dallas.

The move from Deep Ellum will not happen overnight.  Yahoo must first replicate its satellite and data centers at the new Richardson location.  Once this is completed then employees will begin their move from downtown Dallas into their new home in the Telecom Corridor.
