August 2006 • Volume 3, Issue 8 This issue home | Past issues | Chamber home Chamber Supports Proposed Daily, Non-Stop Flight From DFW To Beijing The Richardson Chamber of Commerce has officially gone on record in support of expanding air service to Beijing, China, from the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. At the August meeting, the RCC Board adopted a resolution of support of American Airlines’ application for a new daily, non-stop China route. Copies of the resolution along with a letter of support have been forwarded to American Airlines officials, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and other U.S. officials. The U.S. Department of Transportation will award one U.S. airline the authority to add a daily flight to and from China beginning in 2007. Continental, Delta, Northwest and United airlines have also submitted applications for the service. “This new service is critically important to the Metroplex economy because of the volume of business that local companies do in China,” said Paul Voelker, RCC Chairman of the Board. “A daily, non-stop flight would shorten travel time, improve the shipment of cargo and have a profound effect on our economy.” American Airlines officials say the proposed service generates several important public interest benefits because the new service will:
