Frank's Sports Grill Makes Watching Game Or Just Getting Together, A Great Time For All

Frank's Sports Grill

Opened in May at The Heights Shopping Center, Frank’s Sports Grill offers a wide variety of casual fare from soups to salads, sandwiches and entrees for both lunch and dinner.

Unlike some of those first-name franchises where the originator is half a continent away, there really is a Frank at Frank’s Sports Grill in the Heights Shopping Center, southwest corner of Beltline and Central Expressway in Richardson.

Frank Colletti, a partner in the venture with Carl Telthorst, his brother Brian, and Terry Roberts, is a Dallas native and 30-year restaurant industry veteran, having worked for and managed a number of restaurants, including J. Pepe’s and, most recently, T Daddy’s Sports Grill in Richardson.

This is a family operation, too, with his daughters, son, niece and son of his partners actively involved in running the operation.

Frank's features great food at good prices, with lunch specials starting at just $3.25.

“We keep it simple,” said Colletti, “with a good selection – pizza, burgers, Tex-Mex, soups, salads, appetizers, fried baskets, sandwiches, chicken and seafood dinners, shrimp and steaks, and desserts."

Colletti started in the grocery business with his Uncle Sam Vicari when he wasn’t even 10. He once was upset when his salary was reduced from 14 cents an hour to seven cents an hour because his uncle said he was eating too many Snickers.

At Frank’s, it’s all about great food and customer service, says Colletti. “I like to treat people like they’re coming as guests to my home -- their glass is filled and they’re not going away hungry. We’ve got wonderful brisket, which we smoke ourselves; we make our own pizza dough and Rick Clayton makes our tacos for us on-site.

“We’re excited to be in Richardson, and we’ll be very community-oriented, adopting schools and such and having a customer appreciation night each week.”

Frank’s Sports Grill (capacity 300) has been operating for about two months and they’re gotten a “wonderful” response from residents and local workers, as well as pulling some of the clientele they had at T Daddy’s.

Frank’s Sports Grill in Richardson is a fun place, with good food, attentive service, a long, well-stocked bar area as well as pool tables, darts, and TV screens in all directions. For large groups and special occasions, the site has a large party room (available at no charge; just reserve in advance).
