The June luncheon will be the second event for the Women In Leadership group which was formed earlier this year. More than 100 attended the first luncheon on March 29 with speaker Marsha Clark. The cost to attend is $30 for members and $35 for prospective members. Tables are available for $300. The event series is also looking for a title sponsor. For $500 the title sponsor will receive headline recognition in all marketing pieces and table signage at the event. Contact Suzanne Potter at 972-792-2817 for more information. ABOUT THE PROGRAM This high-energy, motivational presentation is filled with humor and lots of stories highlighting things that are important to customers when they are deciding with whom they choose to do business. ABOUT THE SPEAKER Barry’s extensive business experience, contagious enthusiasm, positive energy and humor make her a dynamic presenter. Her audiences gain a fresh perspective from real world stories. Barry is a motivational speaker on a variety of topics. Some of her signature presentations include – “Would You Want To Do Business With You?,” “When Reality Hits: Secrets to Success and Survival in the Real World” and “The Joys of Being A Mom ~ The Ultimate and Awesome Juggling Act.” She also offers keynote presentations for events that recognize educators and for volunteer recognition events. Barry is also currently writing two books. Prior to starting her own company in July 2005, Barry was vice president of community services for The Dallas Morning News and WFAA-TV and vice president and administrator for The Dallas Morning News Charities, an annual campaign that raises money for the hungry and homeless. Barry joined The Dallas Morning News in 1989 as community services manager. She was promoted to vice president/community services in 1993. In 2001, Barry’s role expanded to include serving as vice president of community services for The Dallas Morning News, WFAA-TV, Texas Cable News and Belo Interactive. Before joining The Dallas Morning News, Barry worked in community relations for TU Electric (now TXU), from 1980-1989. She earned a bachelor's of science degree in 1979 from Stephen F. Austin State University. Barry maintains a high profile within her community. Currently, she serves on the advisory council of the Communities Foundation of Texas and Menttium 100. She also serves on the community advisory board of the Junior League of Dallas and the advisory boards of Girls, Inc. and Wipe Out Kids Cancer. Barry is a member of The Dallas Summit and Genesis Women’s Shelter Alliance and also serves on the Dallas Center for the Performing Arts Foundation Communications Committee. She is a past president of the Leadership Dallas Alumni Association and was a participant in the 1994 Leadership Texas program. In 1996, Barry was named one of the “Top 20 Under 40 ” by the Newspaper Association of America. This honor annually recognizes 20 of the nation’s most promising newspaper executives under the age of 40. In 2000, she was named Dallas Mother of the Year by the Dallas Can! Academy. She received the “Our Hero Award” from Special Olympics in 2004 and received the “Mentor Award” from the Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center in 2006.
