June 2006 • Volume 3, Issue 6 This issue home | Past issues | Chamber home Richardson Companies Make The Grade In Annual DMN Rankings Five Richardson companies were named among the area’s top public companies in The Dallas Morning News' annual overview of the business landscape in Dallas-Fort Worth. The special section, which featured lists of the largest public companies, the area’s biggest private companies; heftiest CEO pay packages and top firms by sector (including law firms, energy, banking, car dealers and hospitals), was published in the May 14 issue of the newspaper. Richardson companies in Top 200 publicly traded companies in D-FW were: Lennox International (No. 27) -- the manufacturer of air conditioning and other climate-controlled systems. No. 23 on the list last year, Lennox (NYSE: LII) had 2005 revenues of $3,366,200,000, up significantly from 2004 revenues of $2,982,700,000. Fossil Inc. (No. 55) -- the watches and accessories retailer, which exceeded a billion dollars in revenues for the first time with $1,040,470,000 in 2005 compared to $959,960,000 in 2004. It ranked No. 51 last year. Xanser Corp. (No. 105) -- which provides technology-based and technical services worldwide. Xanser (NYSE: XNR) had 2005 revenues of $153.88 million compared to 2004 revenues of $145.68 million. It ranked No. 104 last year. Remote Dynamics Inc. (No. 169) -- which develops and implements communications systems for car and truck fleets. Remote Dynamics (NASD: REDI) had 2005 revenues of $16,372,000 down 29.5% from 2004 revenues of $23.2 million. It ranked No. 165 last year. Intrusion Inc. (No. 186) -- a developer of business security software and appliances. Intrusion (NASD: INTZ) had 2005 revenues of $5.98 million, just 0.7 % less than 2004 revenues of $6 million. It ranked No. 187 last year. Three Richardson companies on last year’s list were missing this time around. Two of these were acquired by Valero L.P. (NYSE: VLI) of San Antonio on July 1, 2005: the first was Kaneb Services, LLC, which operates Kaneb Pipe Line Partners LP and provides wholesale fuel marketing services. Kaneb Services (NYSE: KSL), was No. 47 on last year’s list, with 2004 revenues of $1.055 billion; the other was Kaneb Pipe Line Partners LP, a Master limited partnership, which owns pipelines for refined petroleum products, provides terminals and storage. Listed at No. 57 for 2004, Kaneb Pipe Line Partners (NYSE: KPP) had 2004 revenue of $648.2 million. Also absent from this year’s list was Teraforce Technology Corp, which provides digital signal processing products and optical networking equipment. Teraforce (OB/OTC: TERA), which had 2004 revenue of $9.38 million and was ranked No. 183 in 2004, has filed for bankruptcy according to The Dallas Morning News. In addition, three Richardson-headquartered companies appeared on the D-FW Private Companies Top 200. These were No. 48 (No. 39 in 2004) Stream, a global outsourcing company, with 2005 revenues of $350 million (compared to $300 million in 2004); No. 108 Datatrac Information Services Inc., which provides services to government agencies, with 2005 revenues of $108 million; and No. 143 (No. 90 in 2004) Service King Paint & Body LP, with 2005 revenues of $74,397,883 (versus $2004 revenues of $63 million). In a list of the 27 Biggest D-FW Subsidiaries of U.S. Companies, ranked by 2005 revenue, Richardson was represented by No. 26 AMX, which provides advanced control and automation technology for commercial and residential markets. A subsidiary of Duchossois Industries (Elmhurst, IL), AMX did not disclose 2005 revenues.. In a list of the 52 Biggest D-FW Subsidiaries of Foreign Companies, ranked by D-FW employment, Richardson had seven corporations. As might be expected, many of these enterprises were in the telecom industry, but since Richardson’s portfolio of corporations is now more diversified, others represented other business sectors.
