One thousand high school juniors from the Richardson Independent School District participated in an all-day career fair and workshop Jan. 30, co-hosted by RISD and the Richardson Chamber of Commerce. Career Summit 2006 exposed students to post-secondary opportunities, future career prospects and community services. It was held at the Charles W. Eisemann Center for Performing Arts. Dean Lindsey, a sales-and-networking guru, was the keynote speaker. Then students broke into four groups:
Students got the opportunity to speak with counselors, volunteers, and business leaders from the Richardson community. In the Future Career Opportunities session, more than 30 companies represented various industries. Some of these included: Texas Instruments, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas, the City of Richardson, Reliable Chevrolet and Richardson Regional Medical Center. |
