NetPower Technologies, Inc., a high performance DC-DC power converter supplier, has located its headquarters in Richardson. NetPower Technologies designs, manufactures and markets advanced DC-DC power converters for use in telecommunications switching systems and in other electronic products and systems. The company, which currently has 20 employees, has moved into approximately 14,000 square-feet of space at Cardinal Technology Center I in Richardson . The facility will be able to accommodate the company's expected growth in the coming years, according to NetPower's CEO Yimin Jiang. “Our DC-DC converters power telecommunications and networking systems and are also used in applications including industrial, medical and military,” Jiang said. “Using proprietary techniques, NetPower's products typically have industry-leading performances including high efficiency, superior thermal performance, and high reliability. “The Telecom Corridor® area is packed with telecommunications OEMs (original equipment manufacturers), networking corporations and companies developing high performance electronics systems, which require the reliable power converter products that NetPower Technologies produces. So this location is an ideal headquarters location,” Jiang concluded. Ed Wiest, director of sales for NetPower, added: “Simply put, we selected the nicest place that met our cost requirements. The Cardinal Technology Center I building is owned by the Stanford University Alumni Fund. They offered us a good deal.” “Telecom, electronics and high-tech companies of all kinds require reliable power in their products so the robust DC-DC converters that NetPower develops, manufactures and markets are needed throughout the tech industry,” said Richardson Mayor Gary Slagel. “We're pleased that NetPower Technologies is here in the midst of the Telecom Corridor® area.” Talynn Otsuki of Onyx Realty Services was the leasing agent for the Cardinal Technology Center I building at 1680 N. Prospect Drive in Richardson; Ric Kanatzar of Studley, Inc. was the broker for NetPower Technologies. Kanatsar commented: “Their choice of this site was a combination of an enhanced image -- both internally and externally, the space presented itself well and the appeal of the building was an improvement -- as well as the economics, which were also an improvement.”
