Richardson hosted a group of executives from a Chinese technology company, Telestone Technologies Corporation, on Oct. 13. John Jacobs, senior vice president, Economic Development for the Richardson Chamber of Commerce, hosted the visit, which included a presentation on the Telecom Corridor® area as well as a driving tour which highlighted the many global technology companies in this area. Beijing Telestone Technology Company, established in October 1997, is a high-tech corporation focusing on research, development and application of radio-communication technology. The company's head office is located in Beijing, while the R&D center and production plant are located in Hebei province. With 19 engineering and technical service subsidiaries nationwide, Telestone has more than 400 employees, including 240 engineers and management plus 160 line workers. According to the visitors, Telestone provides “the infrastructure and integrated coverage solutions through a comprehensive national sales and services network that keeps mobile users connected in the growing China wireless telecommunications and international markets.” The company offers a far-ranging portfolio of reliable and durable repeaters, antennas and related radio frequency passive accessories to maximize the operational efficiencies of mobile networks at low cost. The products are available for all bandwidths and mobile standards including GSM and CDMA as well as the emerging 3G and broadband systems. They are looking ahead to possible expansion into Europe, India and even North America, so this delegation, which included the company CEO and senior financial officer, visited the internationally-recognized Telecom Corridor® area for discussions on possible customers, suppliers, distributors, alliance and investment partners here. Such relationships can take time so it's not clear what will happen next with this international delegation. One thing was clear: they were impressed by the scope and dense concentration of global telecom OEMs as well as wireless, voice over IP, and networking companies operating here.
