Award Solutions Growing In Richardson, Relocates To Larger Office Space

Russ Edwards, director of Accounts, Knowledge & Professional Services, for Award Solutions, explains typical call processing flow over a wireless network configuration using a diagram sketched on a whiteboard. Award Solutions, headquartered in Richardson provides advanced telecommunications technology training to employees in major communications carriers and enterprises in North America and around the world.

Award Solutions, an advanced telecom and datacom technology training and professional services company, has relocated to a larger space within the Telecom Corridor® area. Award Solutions has leased 14,000 square feet of commercial office space at 2100 Lakeside Drive in Richardson.

Satyajit Doctor, president and co-founder of Award Solutions, said: “Our mission is to help our customers maximize the performance of their people, products and networks. We see a lot of growth in the telecom sector and as a result there is a greater demand for advanced technology training and professional services. We are expanding our space and our staff to meet the needs of our customers.”

“We've been located in Richardson since we established the company in 1997. Our goal was to stay here, close to many of our current clients in the telecom sector,” added Doctor. “However our business has expanded globally, so now we support customers around the world.”

As a result of an improving economy, increased demand for training and recent professional service contracts, the company has grown from about 30 employees at the end of 2004 to 40 now, with another 10 anticipated in the coming months.

“Award Solutions is a company that was started here by a couple of entrepreneurs and is growing because of their hard work and the valuable instructor-led training, eLearning and consulting services they provide,” said Richardson Mayor Gary Slagel. “We're pleased the company decided to stay here to support the renewed activity and growth in the Telecom Corridor® area.”

“The business growth of Award Solutions appears to mirror an improvement in hiring by companies within the telecom sector that in turn necessitates advanced technology training for new employees,” said Charles Eisemann, chairman, Richardson Chamber of Commerce, on the Award Solutions expansion. “Keep up this good work and let's help refresh the telecom engineering, software development and technology talent pool in this area and industry-wide.”

Bill Rudd of Crescent Real Estate Equities was the leasing agent and Andrew Kampen of Banner Commercial was the broker for Award Solutions.

Kampen remarked that “company growth and the desire to upgrade their image and visibility were key factors” in the selection of the Greenway 1A building at 2100 Lakeside Drive in Richardson. “We went through a search process which came down to a couple of sites in Richardson and a nearby community.

“But, really, I believe it came down to a landlord in Crescent Real Estate Equities that they felt they could work with, and a building that could house their current growth plus provide flexibility for the future. We were able to strike a market rate deal which was not a whole lot more than what they were paying yet was a Class A office space which presented a higher profile for them. It was a good time for them to be at this point of expansion,” Kampen added.

Rudd commented that “I think that they liked the idea of working with Crescent and our platform as a company. We're glad to have them as customers and it's our company's philosophy to treat them that way, not as just tenants. In addition, the building worked well for their requirements; they did have several shorter, cheaper options but went with the long-term choice. They wanted to stay in Richardson because of the diversity of high-tech and other businesses here as well as the Telecom Corridor area reputation and affiliation for their company,” concluded Rudd.
