September 2005 • Volume 2, Issue 9 This issue home | Past issues | Chamber home Economic Development Staff Attends Annual Semiconductor Trade Show Bill Sproull, John Jacobs and Sue Walker of the Richardson Economic Development Partnership, recently attended SEMICON West, the annual trade show of Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI). Held in San Francisco, the event featured more than 40,000 attendees and 1,500 exhibitor booths. This was the REDP's second year to have a booth at SEMICON West for the purpose of meeting semiconductor and related companies in support of Texas Instruments' 300mm wafer manufacturing facility under construction in Richardson. Accompanied by TI's Vice President of Worldwide Procurement and Logistics Rob Simpson, REDP staff met with both current and prospective vendors to TI. Since last year's SEMICON West event, three semiconductor supplier companies have expanded or relocated to Richardson: Avnet, Air Liquide, and LSA Cleanpart. The REDP is a joint effort of the City of Richardson and the Richardson Chamber of Commerce and is dedicated to building a vibrant and thriving local economy by attracting new investment and jobs through marketing, recruitment and working with existing employers. |
