Take A Swing At $10,000 At RCC Golf Classic

Early Bird Rates For Players, Teams Still Available

With the Chamber's 18th Annual Golf Classic less than two months away, the focus for the planning committee now turns to recruiting golfers, procuring door prizes for the awards banquet, rounding up gifts for the goodie bags and wrapping up sponsor sales. The tournament is being presented by Owens Country Sausage on Sept. 23 at Sherrill Park Golf Course.

“We already have 67 players committed to play in the tournament, so the slots are expected to fill up quickly,” said Diane Wardrup, committee tri-chair. “Early bird registration has been extended to August 31, so we encourage players to sign up early.”

The cost of an individual player is $175 with an early bird price of $150. There are three levels of team sponsors ranging from the Colonial Sponsor at $800, $725 early bird rate, to Preston Trails Sponsor at $275, $225 early bird.

There are a still openings for major sponsors, hole sponsors, and door prizes for the tournament.

“We still have a variety of sponsorships available, so companies need to take the opportunity to participate in this year's tournament," said Wardrup. “This is a splendid opportunity to market products and services to some 300 business leaders in the Richardson area."

The tournament committee is also focusing its efforts on obtaining door prizes that will be handed out at the awards banquet following the tournament at The Richardson Hotel. And, items for goodie bags for the players are also needed. The tournament needs a quantity of 300 items for the goodie bags.

A full field of golfers will compete in both morning and afternoon rounds using a scramble format. The top three teams will receive prizes. All players will receive a goodie bag full of gifts and be invited to the awards banquet that evening. In addition, players will also have the opportunity to compete for hole prizes, including a new car or $10,000 cash for the hole-in-one contests.

The tournament has long been one of the Chamber's most exciting and highly successful events.
