June 2005 • Volume 2, Issue 6 This issue home | Action home | Chamber home Richardson Companies Make Dallas Morning News' Top 200 List Seven Richardson companies were named among the area's biggest public companies in The Dallas Morning News' 20th-anniversary overview of the Metroplex's business landscape. Two special sections, one on the biggest public companies, the other on the area's biggest private companies, executive compensation and top performers by sector, were published in the May 15 issue of the paper. Coming in at No. 23 was Lennox International, the manufacturer of air-conditioning and other climate-controlled systems. A new company on the list this year, Lennox (NYSE: LII) had 2004 revenues of nearly $3 billion. No, 47 was Kaneb Services, LLC, which operates Kaneb Pipe Line Partners LP and provides wholesale fuel marketing services. Kaneb Services (NYSE: KSL) had 2004 revenues of $1.055 billion. No. 57 was Kaneb Pipe Line Partners LP, a Master limited partnership, which owns pipelines for refined petroleum products, provides terminals and storage. Kaneb Pipe Line Partners (NYSE: KPP) had 2004 revenue of $648.2 million. No. 104 was Xanser Corp., which provides technology-based and technical services worldwide. Xanser (NYSE: XNR) had 2004 revenues of $145.68 million. No. 165 was Remote Dynamics Inc., which develops and implements communications systems for car and truck fleets. Remote Dynamics (NASD: REDI) had 2004 revenues of $23.2 million. No. 183 was Teraforce Technology Corp., which provides digital signal processing products and optical networking equipment. Teraforce (OB/OTC: TERA) had 2004 revenue of $9.38 million. No. 187 was Intrusion Inc., a developer of business security software and appliances. Intrusion (NASD: INTZ) had 2004 revenues of $6 million. A major Richardson employer on last year's list which was missing this year was Inet Technologies, which was acquired by Tektronix in October 2004. In addition, two Richardson-headquartered companies appeared on the Private Companies Top 100. These were No. 39 Stream, a global outsourcing company, with 2004 revenues of $300 million, and No. 90 Service King Paint & Body LP, with 2004 revenues of $63 million. In a list of the 36 Biggest D-FW Subsidiaries of Foreign Companies, ranked by DFW employment, Richardson had three corporations: No. 1 Nortel, 3,800 employees; No. 12 Fujitsu Network Communications Inc., with 900 employees; and No. 17 Samsung Telecommunications America, with 500 employees. Texans Credit Union was fourth on the list of Biggest Credit Unions ranked by deposits as of Dec. 31, and Fossil was No. 13 with $959.96 million on the list of Biggest Retailers Based in DFW, ranked by 2004 revenue. |
