They weren't the largest number of volunteers to work the annual membership drive, nor were they the most seasoned, but they were the most successful. More than 100 Richardson Chamber of Commerce members gathered over two days last week and recruited 164 new members. Receiving the coveted "GodFaddah" award was Ray Niemec, Texas Instruments, whose five teams recruited a total of 68 new members. Dale Litton, also with Texas Instruments, who alone recruited 22 new members, received the "Big Dawg" award. "The result of this membership event is a real testament to our dedicated volunteers," said Ellie Jackson, director of Membership Services for the Chamber. "It's also a reflection of all the great things the Chamber and the City are doing. People are excited about what they see happening in Richardson, and this is further proof of that." Planning and preparation for the annual membership event takes about four weeks. The event chairs spend time drafting their team captains and making sure they are trained to recruit. The captains then build teams over a two-week period and lead them in identifying and signing up new members. Each team competes, cell phones in hand, during a three-hour shift at the event call center, held this year at the First Bank of Canyon Creek Community Room in Richardson.
Chairing this year’s event were: Niemec; Judy Parsons, Community Credit Union; Terry Brion, Ebby Halliday; Steve Moon, Bank of Texas; and Mike Wanchick, City of Richardson. Lela Miller, A Great Storage Place, and Anne Gordon, The Gulin Group, coordinated all the runners that drove the entire Metroplex delivering membership packages to new members and picking up annual dues. "Considering today's gas prices, those volunteers are truly dedicated to the growth of the RCC," said Jimmy Cusano, event coach and vice president of Your Chamber Connection. Also volunteering this year were: Kim Aaron, Eric Alphonso, Bill Alsap, Blake Anderson, Lucia Arrant, Chris Baggett, Carolyn Bailey, Jenny Barganier, Linda Bechtold, Mary Bedosky, Mike Bell, Dwaine Benedict, Berry Box, John Brandon, Eric Braun, Uselton Burton, Lisa Cade, Arienne Cartier, Holly Clay, David Cooke, Dillian Corbitt, Joe Costantino, Rhonda Cowley, Kim Crawford, Elise Dixon, Steve Dole, Henry Drexel, Kathy Faulk, David Frank, Terri French, Quinton Gaither, Jane Geer, Todd Ghedi, Les Grounds, Dee Hackler, Susan Hansen, Joan Harvey, Laura Harvey, Tom Hatfield, Monica Held, Stewart Hempel, Craig Henderson, Bill Hense, Shelly Hickey, Mark Hightower, Candi Hughes, Wendy Jones, Julia Kelly, Hul Kenney, Sharon King, Mark Kinsella, Linda Korn, Joe Krumrey, Mark Langford, Glenn Lauter, Steve Lindberg, Dale Litton, Susan Long, Kelly Louma, Mike McCoy, Rick McGarry, George McKearn, Gordon McKinley, Wade McLaurin, Steve McQuay, Mike Meyer, Jose Monzon, Steve Moore, Stan Niece, Sarah Owen, Issac Paddilla, Paul Peck, Blake Peelman, Valerie Pelan, Stephanie Pennington, Steve Penson, Bonnie Perry, Dave Peters, Peter Poorman, Ken Pressley, Walter Ragsdale, Dave Ramsey, Keith Redelsperger, John Richardson, Kristi Risner, Linda Rose, Ed Sanders, Richard Sasser, Bill Schaid, Stu Schlackman, Tim Schmitz, Don Simmons, Mabel Simpson, Kevin Smith, Susan Smith, Drew Snow, Steve Spanos, Jim Spivey, Sherry Stallone, Ronnie Stogsdill, John Sweeden, Yvonne Tao, Mark Taylor, Sedrick Thomas, Liz Thortis, Brent Tignor, Corey Turley, Laura Turner, Camille Ussery, Holli Vaughn, Paul Voelker, Kim Waldrup, Craig Weigel, Dennis Weigel, Rob West, DJ Whipple, Chuck White, Erwin Whitlock, Steve Wilhelm, Chris Williams, Candice Willingham, Don Wilson, Carol Woods, Dennis Wooten and Erica Yeager.
