BRY-JO Is A Family-Owned Business Focusing On Customers Needs

Michael Harris, and his wife Maria, began BRY-JO Roofing and Construction in 2000. Five years later the company, which is a member of the Richardson Chamber of Commerce, has grown to five full-time employees and utilizes up to 50 subcontractors daily to meet customers' needs.

Several years ago Michael Harris was an insurance adjuster inspecting properties for damages related to hail storms, water intrusion and fires. He was previously in the roofing and remodeling business since 1987, but as he went from house to house as an adjuster his perspective began to change.

He talked with people and discovered the importance of meeting customers' needs. Along the way he began to realize that he liked the contracting business more than the insurance adjusting business. More importantly he found out that he liked the idea of being in business for himself and helping those in need.

So he and his wife, Maria, began a roofing and remodeling business from their house in the spring of 2000. Five years later, BRY-JO Roofing and Construction is in its third office, located at 797 N. Grove Road, Suite 113. The company has grown to five full-time employees, and utilizes up to 50 subcontractors daily to meet the needs of both residential and business customers.

The company is a family-owned business from top to bottom. Maria is the vice president and manages the daily operation of the office. The company is named after the couple's two older sons, Bryan, now age seven, and Josh, now age five. The couple also has a one-year-old son, Luke.

“Don't let the name fool you,” Harris says, “We don't just do roofing. There is a lot that we do that falls under the construction portion of our company.”

BRY-JO is a general contracting company with licensed insurance adjustors on staff. As a certified roofing contractor, roofing is a large part of their business. However, the company also focuses on siding, underpin replacement, windows, doors, and kitchen and bath remodeling. Their insurance experience allows them to specialize in the restoration of water and fire damaged homes as well. The company also handles the larger projects on a variety of commercial structures.

BRY-JO is a Master Elite Contractor for GAF products, an EIK Peak Performance Contractor, and a Silver Level Contractor with Hardie Siding. They have been members in excellent standing with the BBB for the five years they've been in business. The company is also an active member of the North Texas Roofing Contractors Association, Roofing Contractors Association of Texas, National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) and a member of the Richardson Chamber of Commerce since 2002.

“This is definitely a rewarding and thankful job because most customers appreciate what you are doing for them. We enjoy the personal side ....dealing directly with the customer. You get to meet interesting people when you are working on their homes,” Harris said.

This business continues to grow as it meets the needs of its customers with a family-owned business philosophy.

“If you put God first, then family, everything falls into place and that helps all of us grow,” Harris said.
