The Richardson Economic Development Partnership recently hosted Jon Puigcercos, a politician, member of the Spanish Congress since 2000 and secretary general of the Republican Left of Catalonia Party in the Congress. Invited to the United States under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State's International Visitor Leadership Program, Puigcercos is studying technology and innovation so he visited the Metroplex, particularly the Telecom Corridor® area as part of his research. Puigcercos is also interested in what local, state and federal government incentives (tax breaks, research grants and other considerations) have been used in Texas to stimulate advancement in technology and innovation. John Jacobs, senior vice president of Economic Development, delivered a presentation on the growth of the Telecom Corridor® area and described the evolution of this high-technology cluster over the last 15 years within Dallas-Fort Worth. |
