January 2005 • Volume 2, Issue 1 This issue home | Action home | Chamber home Public Affairs Committee Sets 2005 Agenda Forums Planned On Healthcare, Insurance Costs, Higher Education With the 79th Texas Legislative Session just around the corner, the Richardson Chamber of Commerce's Public Affairs Committee is encouraging the membership to get involved and take an interest in the governmental process. The committee has planned a series of public affairs forums to reacquaint the public with some of the major issues up for discussion during the 2005 session. In December, the Richardson ISD and Plano ISD superintendents discussed the issues surrounding public school finance. Dallas County Judge Margaret Keliher will be speaking on the subject of healthcare and insurance costs on Wednesday, Jan. 19. Higher education will be the topic at the February forum. Based on a recent legislative survey of the membership, the committee also prepared the RCC's legislative priority agenda for the session. (View PDF.) Chamber representatives will meet with key decision-makers in the legislature to share the priorities and recommendations during Richardson Legislative Day March 1-2. If you would like to be involved with the event, contact Jill Nelson. |
