Professional Career Day, a program of the Education Committee of the RCC and the Richardson Independent School District (RISD), provides eighth grade students with career options and educational awareness. While the day's focus is on the junior high students, the host companies also gain from the experience. Not only are they able to interact with the students, but the companies are also influencing the community's future workforce. Beth Kolman, community relations at Nortel Networks, has been involved with the event for many years. “Our participation in the Chamber's Professional Career Day is an annual highlight for Nortel Networks. We enjoy working together to create presentations and skits that are fun, yet truly educational for the students. Watching the students get excited about engineering and technology is extremely rewarding." Professional Career Day hosts were the City of Richardson, DART, Nortel Networks, Paragon Innovations, Richardson Regional Medical Center, Richland College and the University of Texas at Dallas. |
