November 2004 Volume 1, Issue 13 This issue home | Action home | Chamber home Sproull Takes Chamber's Reins New President / CEO Excited About City's Future
Bill Sproull was that new resident and president and CEO of the Chamber, the Richardson Economic Development Partnership and the Metroplex Technology Business Council was the position. He replaces Ron Robinson who retired in August after nearly 20 years in the position. Sproull begins his tenure during a time of economic uncertainty, but despite the challenges, he's optimistic about the city's future. Citing a diverse workforce, accessible location and a business-friendly environment, he believes Richardson will be able to attract new development, bring back jobs and fill empty office space. I look forward to working with great leadership and staff on taking these organizations to the next level of their growth, Sproull said. This is an exciting challenge and opportunity for me. Texas Instruments Inc.'s $3 billion wafer plant and the $85 million research facility coming to the University of Texas at Dallas are two reasons why Sproull is so confident about the city's future. Upon Sproull's hiring in early September, RCC Chairman of the Board Bob Kaiser, said: Bill is a difference maker. His business development skills and proven track record will accelerate Richardson to a new level of leadership as a premier economic center. Sproull comes to the RCC from the Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce, where he served as vice president of economic development for the past four years. Previously, he was president and CEO of the McKinney Economic Development for three-and-a-half years; spent almost 10 years with the Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City, Mo., where he was VP and director of Business Development; and more than four years with the Kansas City Corporation for Industrial Development Corporation. Sproull holds a bachelor's degree in economics and political science from Baylor University in Waco. He, his wife and their children live in the Canyon Creek area of Richardson. |
